[Autograph Note, Signed]. To Marcelo de Ridder. A brief note to the Buenos Aires art dealer from the African American dancer, choreographer, teacher, anthropologist and activist, then likely on one of her many South American tours: "Dear Marcello Phone me, will you? What on earth happens to you people! We leave Saturday morning. Affectionately- Katherine Dunham." In 1963, Dunham choreographed the Met's production of "Aida," becoming the first African American to choreograph for the Metropolitan Opera.
