A wonderfully unusual set of the works of Shakespeare in four pocket-sized books bound in a beautiful green with floral gilt decoration. 8 vols in four; 16mo (10 x 7 cm); 40 illustrations, 7 frontispiece engravings of the author and one of the Death Mask, abrasions to endpapers, upper hinge cracked but holding to vol. I, blue ink stain primarily affecting pp35-8 with some bleeding to surrounding leaves to vol. III, rear hinge cracked but holding to vol. IV, small abrasion to text of title-page of vol. V, only affecting one word, hinge cracked but holding between pp68-9 to vol. VII, occasional minor spot or mark throughout, otherwise very good internal condition; contemporary full green morocco with gilt floral decoration and lettering to front panel and spine, signs of wear and discolouration to edges, more evident to fore-edge of upper cover of, all edges gilt, good condition given age; 1040pp, 978pp, [2]pp, 998pp, [2]pp, 1022pp, [1]pp.
