Scripta quae extant omnia, First collected works in Latin, second Wechel printing, collecting the ancient author's treatises on rhetoric and history, which constitute the most valuable source on early Roman history besides Livy. "His critical essays on the Attic orators and the historian Thucydides represent an important development from the somewhat mechanical techniques of rhetorical handbooks to a more sensitive criticism of individual authors" (Usher, p. vii).The text is edited by the German classical scholar Friedrich Sylburg (1536-1596), who edited Greek texts for the Wechel press. It was first printed in 1586. The inner hinges of this copy are supported by fragments of a legal document, likely an indenture, concerning a citizen from the Netherlands and dated 1466. The two stubs are written in a flowing chancery hand in black ink.
