Stopes (1880-1958) was the daughter of the feminist Charlotte Brown Carmichael Stopes (1840-1929)."On 31 May 1921 Stopes made the first move in a campaign to make birth control respectable with a mass meeting at the Queen's Hall, London, attended by distinguished medical, political, literary, and artistic sponsors.
