Yukio Futagawa (1932–2013) was, across a sixty-year career, one of the most significant architectural photographers and publishers of the twentieth century. Trained at Waseda University in Tokyo and profoundly influenced early in his career by Yoshio Watanabe's photographs of traditional Japanese architecture, Futagawa established the Edita Tokyo publishing company in 1970 and, through it, the Global Architecture (GA) series, a sustained, decades-long publishing project that would eventually encompass GA , GA Houses , GA Document , and GA Architect . He collaborated over his career with figures including Philip Johnson, Kenneth Frampton, and Christian Norberg-Schulz.
