1972 CINEMA X MAGAZINE V4 #6 A CLOCKWORK ORANGE Stanley Kubrick Malcolm McDowell A VERY hard to find and desirable issue of the cult British film magazine "Cinema X – The International Guide for Adult Audiences," with A CLOCKWORK ORANGE as its principal cover/feature subject. This issue has an especially fascinating connection to Stanley Kubrick's film. CINEMA X magazine itself actually appears on screen in A CLOCKWORK ORANGE. During the famous Chelsea Drugstore sequence, Alex (Malcolm McDowell) walks past a magazine display, picks up a copy of Cinema X, briefly looks through it and puts it down. The issue used in the movie was an earlier 1970 issue (Volume 2, No. 11). After the film's release, Cinema X subsequently published this Volume 4, Number 6 issue in 1972 featuring A CLOCKWORK ORANGE itself. This creates a wonderful connection for Kubrick collectors: Cinema X first appeared as a prop/publication within A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, and the magazine subsequently featured Kubrick's film in this issue. An unusual piece of original period memorabilia associated with one of the most famous and controversial films of the 1970s. A CLOCKWORK ORANGE was directed by STANLEY KUBRICK and starred MALCOLM McDOWELL as Alex.
