Collection of 5 original vintage LIFE magazines from 1964–1965 documenting NASA’s Gemini program and America’s rapidly developing manned space program during the height of the Space Race. All are original period magazines — not reproductions. Included: September 25, 1964 — “America’s Giant Jump Into Space” Early look at America’s developing space program and plans for future missions. April 2, 1965 — “Gemini’s Journey” “The Astronauts’ Own Story” by Gus Grissom and John Young, covering the historic Gemini 3 mission. June 18, 1965 — “The Space Walk” Spectacular cover featuring astronaut Ed White during America’s first spacewalk on the Gemini 4 mission. Includes LIFE’s “16 Pages of Fantastic Color.” September 3, 1965 — Gemini 5 / Pete Conrad Cover featuring astronaut Pete Conrad at the start of the Gemini 5 flight, with extensive coverage of the spacecraft and mission. September 24, 1965 — Gemini 5 / Cooper & Conrad “Most Remarkable Views of Earth Ever Recorded,” featuring extraordinary orbital photography and the astronauts’ accounts of the Gemini 5 mission. Together these issues document an important period in NASA history immediately preceding the Apollo lunar program. Condition: Good vintage condition overall with expected age and handling wear, including edge and corner wear, creases, rubbing and minor surface wear.
