Scenes in Europe, Second edition, first published the previous year. A popular travel book for children, which underwent eight editions by 1825. The book prints scenes of notable buildings, curiosities and events for each European country, with accompanying text and occasionally poetry. This was the copy of the author John Fowles (1926-2005), with his embossed book stamp to the front free endpaper; also with the contemporary inscription "Ellen Fox prize for attention to lessons, and good behaviour January 1820" to the front free endpaper, and with her ownership signature facing on the pastedown.
