A Road to Fairyland. First edition, first impression. Signed by the author on the title page. Dr Marie Stopes (1880-1958), though best known today for her contributions to palaeontology, her pioneering work on birth control, and her manual Married Love (1918), was also a prolific writer of novels, poems and fairy stories.The dust jacket exists in two known states. The first includes Arthur Rackham's frontispiece on the front cover and is priced at 5s. A "cheap edition" is advertised in the Times Literary Supplement on 26 September 1929 at 2s. 6d. This copy has the second state jacket.
