First edition , published as volume XV of the Beiträge zur Kenntnis des Russischen Reiches und der angränzenden Länder Asiens . This very rare account of Khiva and the surrounding region was written by a member of Gregor Danilewsky's Russian Expedition of 1842. Basiner describes the progress of the expedition itself in the first part of the work, and the second half gives a description of the Khanate of Khiva. The book is rare, and this copy is remarkab
