SENDSCHREIBEN EINES QUACKERS AUS LONDEN AN EINEN SEINER GLAUBENS-BRÜDER IN PENSYLVANIEN DEN JETZIGEN KRIEG BETREFFEND. A very rare printing of a letter from an English Quaker in Pennsylvania to a fellow believer back home, translated into German, discussing the ongoing French and Indian War. The English source for this translation and imprint has now been lost. It blames the behavior of the British military toward the native tribes for the failure of their religious missions, arguing that the cruelty of the army turned the Indians against English settlers and pushed them to align with the French. We are able to locate only seven copies, and only three outside German and Swiss institutions, at Columbia University, the John Carter Brown Library, and the State Library of Pennsylvania. Not in Sabin or Americana Germanica.
