A beautiful copy of A Midsummer Night's Dream illustrated and signed by Arthur Rackham. Rackham was a leading figure of the Golden Age of Illustration and this wonderfully decorated copy is a prime example of his work. A bookplate on the front pastedown denotes that this particular copy belonged to Claud Lambton who served as the director of Morris Co from 1905. Limited edition, number 892 of 1,000 copies, signed by Rackham on limitation page; 4to (30 x 24 cm); publisher's watermark to halt-title, ownership plate to front pastedown belonging to Claud Lambton (ex director of Morris Co.), pen ownership inscription to front free endpaper, illustrator's signature to limitation page, 40 tipped-in colour plates with captioned tissue-guards, further black white line drawings and vignettes within text, gentle offsetting from verso of plate leaves, some minor marks to the following pages p.11, p.44-45, p.60, p.85, p.128-9, offsetting to p.20 from illustration, occasional light browning or spots but otherwise very good; publishers full vellum tooled in gilt lettering and illustration, spine in gilt lettering, later replacement ribbon ties, top edge gilt, light toning, a few minor marks to boards, general wear to spine, slightly abraded on rear otherwise very good condition; [x], 134pp, [2]pp.
