Superficial cosmetic splitting to spine overlay fabric at rear external hinge; binding, stitching, & text block entirely unaffected, tight, & structurally firm. Text block exceptionally clean, square, & unmarked. Daguerreotype portrait of Poe, 1848, as frontispiece. Woodcut frontispiece crisp. "Presented By Alan Fraser" slip included (not pasted in), presentation copy. Original scarce green bat-motif slipcase. Split to top edge of slipcase, very sturdy.
