Founded in Jakarta in 1875, the firm entered the Hong Kong market in 1888 as part of a programme of expansion across Asia. It built a reputation on trading textiles but branched out into furniture, ivory and porcelain wares, and fans.This copy is accompanied by a nine-page pamphlet issued by the company around the same time and listing the types of goods it exports. The contents match the last few leaves of the brochure.
