You're looking at a SUPERB overall condition book which is VERY RARE, hard to find and OUT OF PRINT and a history of German South-West Africa between the years 1894 and 1914 written by HELMUT BLEY--the book is an unstated FIRST ENGLISH LANGUAGE EDITION published by Northwestern University Press in 1971 and a HARDCOVER with no dustjacket. This book is in SUPERB overall condition and has very light foxing on the spine edges, a very slight forward list of the spine edge, slight dings on the spine and a couple of the opening tips and just slight shelfwear and NO other significant imperfections! A portion of the original notes on the front inner flap of the dustjacket (the remainder is not included) is present and in excellent shape with just slight wrinkling. The book is titled South-West Africa under German Rule and it was written by HELMUT BLEY and translated from the German by HUGH RIDLEY; it was published by Northwestern University Press in 1971 and is a 1st EDITION copy. This study takes as it central theme the relationship between the demand of the colonial minority in South-West Africa for absolute power and the African resistance to that demand. A striking feature of the situation was the fact that while both the Europeans and the Africans were ready to use force, neither of them foresaw the bitter struggle that was to result from resistance to any stabilization on the lines of traditional European and African forms of life.
