Tennessee Williams 1947 A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE True First Ed This is a true first edition of Tennessee William's classic play about the Deep South -- A Streetcar Named Desire -- released shortly after the play's New York premier in 1947. It is accompanied by a rare signed card from actress Kim Hunter discussing her co-actor -- newly discovered superstar Marlon Brando. She wrote her lenghly greeting on the back of a card from the Sioux Indian band that may have a connection to Mr. Brando. The production and subsequent Hollywood movie kick-started the acting career of Marlon Brando. It also starred Jessica Tandy, Karl Malden and, of course, Kim Hunter. Ms Hunter mentions in the note that she and Marlon Brando starred in both the Broadway play and the movie. "He was a wonderful actor and person to work with, by the way." The book's pastel covers have mellowed in a few places but the titles on the spine and front cover are still vibrant. The textblock is firm, and pages lie flat when opened. Hinges are robust. The fragile dust jacket deteriorated decades ago, so we have replaced it with an archival cover produced by the leading reproduction company in the US. We have also added a Bro-Dart dust jacket protector. The cover is in pristine condition and both protects the book and increases its shelf appeal.
