Tennessee Williams 1947 STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE 1947 2nd printing This is the second printing of the first edition of the wildly successful Tennessee William's play about the Deep South -- A Streetcar Named Desire. It was published after the play's First Edition sold out shortly after its Broadway opening in 1947. The production and subsequent Hollywood movie kick-started the acting career of Marlon Brando. It also boosted the fortunes of the other major stars: Jessica Tandy, Kim Hunter, and Karl Malden. Malden starred as Harold "Mitch" Mitchell in the original Broadway theatre production. He was later voted Best Supporting Actor for the 1951 Hollywood cinema adaptation. Mr. Malden has provided an autographed 3 by 5 inch signature card which is laid in at the front of the volume. The book itself is in near Fine collectible condition with strong hinges and a tight binding. There is very light fading along the outside edges of the front and rear covers. Pages are supple and easy to turn. They lie flat for easy reading. All four corners are pointed with only a touch of wear to the bottom two. The binding is firm, hinges are robust and the text block is unmarked. There are no gift inscriptions, stickers or unwanted bookplates and no other writing, save a single vintage name on the front endpaper. Pages are clean and free of any age spots or foxing. Text block is square and flat with no unexpected markings. The dust jacket nicely matches the book's pastel blue covers. It is toned a
