Publisher's blue paper covered boards, a little stained and rubbed; grey paper spine chipped and frayed; original paper title label chipped and rubbed; edges untrimmed. Internally sound and clean. A very good copy of a scarce first edition. Joseph Ayre 1781-1860 was born at Lynn, Norfolk. He began his medical studies in 1803 at Guy's and St. Thomas's hospitals.
