SERIZAWA, Keisuke (1895-1984). February. 1964. Original hand stenciled pochoir illustration on handmade untrimmed Japanese paper, as published in Tokyo by the Takum Craft Shop, 1964. 360 x 280 mm. Serizawa was a highly respected Japanese textile designer who drew inspiration from the bingata (multicoloured, stencil dyed) textiles of Okinawa. Serizawa was designated a "Living National Treasure" by the Emporer of Japan in 1956 and after his death, the Tohoku Fukushi University of Sendai, constructed and dedicated a museum comprised solely of Serizawa's art work.
