A beautiful early overview of late nineteenth century Montevideo. Although photographers such as George Thomas Bate and Chute and Brooks were active in Montevideo from 1861, they tended to focus on portrait photography and cartes de visite. This album includes images of the major plazas and streets, buildings such as El Cabildo, La Bolsa, the Banco Comercial the Ex Hotel Americano and Hotel Del Prado are all featured.
