The Man with the Golden Gun. First edition, first impression, first issue, in the first state binding with the gilt gun on the front cover. The gun was dropped after the first 940 copies were exported due to the costliness of the large gilt block. It is consequently the most desirable binding state in the entire series.Fleming's final novel was published eight months after his death and later adapted into the 1974 film starring Roger Moore. Fleming had stated to his editor, "this is, alas, the last Bond", adding that this time he meant it. His estate authorized one final James Bond book by Fleming, the story collection Octopussy and The Living Daylights (1966).
