Lord Tennyson was Britain's longest reigning Poet Laureate, best remembered for his narrative work Idylls of the King, his elegy In Memoriam, and The Charge of the Light Brigade. 10 vols; 12mo (13 x 8.5 cm); wood-engraved initials, head and tailpieces; contemporary straight-grain blue morocco, covers with gilt 'AT' monogram within single gilt filet border, gilt spines in 6 compartments, all edges gilt, spines slightly darkened, housed in the original silk-lined blue straight-grain morocco box, clasp in fully working order, remains of silk aids, upper hinges expertly restored, slightly faded, a remarkable example of late 19th-century craftsmanship.
