Nagel is highly respected publishing house founded in 1928 by Hungarian emigré Louis Nagel (1908-1997) who moved the business to Geneva in 1952. They publish informative and encyclopaedic guides to many countries. This is a social record of the Soviet Union in the 1950s. First edition. Small 8vo (16 x 11 cm); xv, 256, 6 plans, some coloured, a black and white postcard inserted loose, previous bookseller's label discreetly pasted down on endpapers, map of Leningrad with a large tear; publisher's plastic covers, gilt lettered, (lettering dull as usual); a very good copy.
