We acquired this beautifully preserved custom half-leather binding at a Los Angeles estate sale many years ago. The private library fine binding was likely commissioned by a previous owner or a specialized workshop rather than being a standard publisher's issue. The text block is the 1926 Modern Library edition of The Picture of Dorian Gray combined with De Profundis. This is confirmed by the introduction copyright date, which marks the transition year when Random House took over the Modern Library imprint from Boni & Liveright. It features the classic Bernhard "Running Man" logo on the title page. General Description: Duodecimo (about 5" x 7"). Bound in a striking custom half-leather library binding of polished blue-gray calf over vibrant gilt-stamped geometric decorated boards.
