"Medico-Legal Aspects of the Ruxton Case" is a 284 page (plus xvi), 7.5"x9.75" hardcover written by John Glaister and James Couper Brash and published in 1937 by E. & S. Livingstone (Edinburgh, Scotland). In 1935 Dr. Buck Ruxton murdered his wife and housekeeper, dismembered and mutilated their bodies and dumped them in a ravine. With his medical background he attempted to obscure or remove as many identifying features as possible, and this book examines the groundbreaking forensic advances made as researchers gathered enough evidence to place the murders at Ruxton's home and prove definitively the victims' identities. There are 172 black-and-white illustrations, many of them stomach-churning photos of body parts. In good condition with no dust jacket. It was the formerly owned by the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office and there are large stamps to this effect on the first page and title page, a number written on the spine and evidence of a removed sticker from the spine bottom. The blue cloth boards show wear at the extremities, turned-in corners, rubbing, faint stains.
