James Glass Bertram (1824-1892) is perhaps better remembered for writing The order of the Rod - a classic of Victorian erotica. He generally wrote under a pseudonym. New edition, revised and corrected; 8vo (200 x 140mm); frontispiece, title, 19 plates in b w and more in-line illustrations, pages are chipped pp489-492, however blocks of text remain unaffected; publisher's pictorial plum cloth, blind framed border enclosing embossed Eton block and rod, gilt decoration and title to spine priced 12/6 in gilt, a brightly preserved copy in the original binding, very good condition; [xii], 544pp, [4]ads.
