A Catalogue of the Collection of Eighteenth-Century Printed Books and Manuscripts formed by Lord Rothschild. First edition of the catalogue detailing the library of Nathaniel Mayer Victor Rothschild, 3rd Baron Rothschild (1910-1990). Rothschild began collecting 18th-century books and manuscripts in 1932 whilst studying at Trinity College, Cambridge. The collection boasts a particular emphasis on Jonathan Swift.These copies are from the library of Donald (1909-1966) and Mary (1912-2003) Hyde, with their book label present. The Hyde's library is revered as one of the largest private collections of 18th-century literature and the premier collection of books and manuscripts relating to Samuel Johnson.Provenance: Stephen C.
