First edition, number 63 of 150 copies, here signed by the author on the front free endpaper; only the first 50 copies were issued signed.This was one of Heaney's first limited editions and marks the first separate appearance of an early masterpiece. Written in 1965 and first printed in the magazine Phoenix in 1967, the poem follows the development of a paternal relationship through the eyes of a maturing son.
