E. Massengill Company of Bristol, Tennessee. This personalized presentation copy was given to J. M. Mason, M.D. The presentation label bears Samuel Evans Massengill's handwritten signature and is accompanied by James M. Mason's personal bookplate. The handsome burgundy binding features a raised medical scene on the front, decorative spine labels and raised spine bands. Massengill founded the S. E. Massengill pharmaceutical company and became a historically significant figure in the development of American drug-safety regulation.
