German Giants was the first complete study of the development and service history of the R-Planes. It gave full details of every airplane built, with previously unpublished photographs to accompany most entries as well as information on the uncompleted projects. Highly detailed full page general arrangement drawings of the important types also included. The authors also made an exhaustive record of the performance and achievements of the Giants and their book followed the service career of every aircraft giving the full story of their operations over England and on the Eastern front, the weight of bombs dropped, the casualties suffered and the names of the pilots. Having located additional information on construction, combat service and future projects, the authors produced a reviewed and expanded second edition. This included such items as the airborne five inch gun, the guided missiles designed to be launched by R planes and all metal monoplane projects with wingspans of incredible size. For this third edition a significant number of minor amendments and additions have been made to the text but the picture collection has been completely revised with many entirely new view and improved prints of those previously published.
