Scarce signed 1967 hardcover first edition of A Cabbage Rose, Only, a collection of poetry by Bakersfield author and schoolteacher Lillian Krikorian. Published as a Lyceum Book by Carlton Press, New York. Personally inscribed by the author: “For Margaret Perttula With best wishes Lillian Krikorian September 1967” The book has notable Bakersfield, California, interest. In the acknowledgments, Krikorian thanks Sherlo Shively, principal of Mt. Vernon School in Bakersfield, for his encouragement and suggestions. The poems address family, nature, faith, war, loneliness and the author’s experiences as a schoolteacher. The hardcover book itself remains intact with general age toning and light wear. The original dust jacket is present but in poor condition, with heavy rubbing, fading, tears, creasing, edge loss and several separated or peeling portions.
