"Written during the time of the Revolution in France, it was intended to exhibit the feelings and hopes of the people and the defects and absurdities of various political systems" (Encyclopedia Britannica). The edition comprised five other formats printed on different types of paper, each with its own limitation. This copy is printed on Italian paper, with the watermark of the paper mill of Giovanni and Cosimo Cini.The first edition was published in 1802.Provenance: Stephen C. Massey.
