First edition, BAL's state (perhaps printing) 2, of the author's first book, with "presumptuous" on the last line of p.9 and "A Treatise on the Practice of Medicine" on the ad page [233] rather than quotes from reviews of this title. "A photographic reproduction of negro folk-lore, in accurate dialect....The instant success of this first Uncle Remus caused the greatest flood of dialect literature the country had known..." - Grolier Hundred. While by no means a scarce book in ordinary condition, bright, tight copies such as this are now certainly the exception.
