To me, the coolest part of this Dead Book is really the " Time-Capsule " nature - with this being published in 1980 - and ' looking-back ' at this stage in time & place ... Egypt ! just 2-Years prior ! So, the obvious point being that this fine writing is based on the 1965-1980 period - and though it was clear that the Grateful Dead still had a bright future - I'm not sure anybody knew ( remotely ! ) that Touch of Grey ! & Massive ! Stadium Show Tour Sellouts ! were waiting just around the corner - with that ' corner ' being almost a full-decade later ! This focuses on the scene & surrounding Rock 'n Roll scene when it was blooming & blossoming ! If the Late '60's / Early '70's was truly Rock & Roll's ' Prime ' Era - then this one was being written
