TWO CHARMING OLD Homemade 'recipe clipping' books: Here are two homemade recipe books, actually made from pasting magazine and newspaper onto book pages. You know those clippings that you used to see in magazines and newspapers, and you’ll cut it out and think that you might make that dish someday? Some cooks had volumes of these books. There are two books. The smaller of the two is called a recipe scrapbook and was made by from the Shilling (spice) company.This was actually a book that was made for recipe clippings, and it is stuffed full. *The Schilling Recipe Scrap Book: This one was specifically made for people to cut and paste recipes in. It is dated 1926 and it is full of everything from walnut spice cake to loin of beef. On both sides of each page there’s recipes that have been well pasted in some that are starting to fall out. This is a extremely old book which has seen lots of use. The pages are darkened on the edges and brittle and some recipes are starting to fall out from the old old glue that used to hold them in around 1930.
