Peking to Lhasa is a 1925 travel narrative compiled by Sir Francis Younghusband from the journals of the late British Brigadier-General George Pereira. It details Pereira’s remarkable 1921–1922 expedition across China and Tibet, making him the first European to successfully reach Lhasa from China since 1848. The Journey General George Pereira, who was nearly 60 years old at the time, embarked on the grueling journey in February 1921. His route took him from Peking (Beijing) westward through regions heavily devastated by famine, across remote provinces of the Chinese Empire, and ultimately over the Himalayas into the Holy City of Lhasa.
