It also contains an account of Lt. James Moody's spying expedition into Philadelphia in 1781, one of the more remarkable stories of the war. Together with the first leaf of the issue for Jan. 2, 1786, containing part of a letter written to John Adams by the Abbe de Malby on the government and laws of America. THE INDEPENDENT LEDGER... was established June 15, 1778 by Edward Draper and John W. Folsom; it was published until Oct. 16, 1786.
