The poem, published under the pseudonym of "____Quarles", appears on pages 143 -145 of the Review, which is 8vo, original buff printed wrappers, lightly stained but sound and virtually un-chipped; the interior lightly foxed; string bound. New York: Wiley & Putnam, February, 1845. Enclosed is an excerpt from a typed letter from Scribner's rare book department in 1954, explaining that although the poem appeared a few days earlier in The New York Mirror, The Review should be considered the first printing, although which was on the streets first is a moot question. This copy, protected in a board slipcase, also bears the Carroll Atwood Wilson bookplate.
