Provenance: from the personal library of the historian William Brown Patterson - scholar of the English Reformation and author of King James VI and I and the Reunion of Christendom (Cambridge) and William Perkins and the Making of a Protestant England (Oxford) - with his ownership signature on the front free endpaper: "William Brown Patterson, Episcopal Theological School, Cambridge, Massachusetts, April 1958", written while he was a student there; one of several books from his library offered here. Condition: GOOD. Hardcover in blue cloth with black spine lettering, in the original dust jacket, protected in a removable mylar sleeve. Jacket toned, darker on the spine panel, with small chips and wear at the head of the spine and edges and some spotting; front flap price-clipped at the lower corner. Cloth clean with light rubbing at the spine ends and corners. Binding tight. Ownership signature as noted; spotting to the endpapers. Text clean and unmark
