Very scarce Soviet children's book dedicated to the Civil War, designed by one of the best avant-garde illustrators. Alisa Poret (1902-1984) studied under Petrov-Vodkin at Vkhutein and from 1926 under Pavel Filonov. OCLC locates copies at Princeton, Columbia, University of Chicago, University of Michigan and Richmond Public Library. Poret published a similar work the same year which was in the same style titled, 'How the Revolution was Won'. First edition, landscape 8vo (18.4 x 22.6 cm); illustrations throughout; original printed wrappers, upper wrapper very slightly faded in parts, a fine copy.
