A new selection of rare comics fanzines from my large collection built up over the years.... * New to market from the Clive Glentworth Collection * 2x CHICAGO MIRROR no.1 + no.2 lot Jay Lynch (USA), Autumn 1967 and Winter 1968 From Comix Joint - A solid half year before there was a Zap Comix #1, there was a Chicago Mirror #1, published in Chicago in the autumn of 1967. Jay Lynch was the editor and publisher, Skip Williamson contributed a fairly trippy surrealistic comic one-pager, and Peter Green produced a sweet front cover. Oh, and famous pulp fiction writer and racketeer L. Ron Hubbard provides an "Introduction to Scientology" as well. Includes Art Spiegelman. Chicago Mirror #2 came out in Chicago at about the same time Zap Comix #1 came out in San Francisco, and they were certainly different types of publications. But Chicago Mirror #2 did have some pretty incendiary content, including a one-page comic by Lynch that exposed the absurdity of racial segregation. It's also fun to read the letters page that includes missives from Harvey Kurtzman and Bill Killeen (pioneer of college humor magazines). Includes Gilbert Shelton and Wally Wood. Unsure of printing on No.1, No.2 is a 1st print Magazine-size Scarce original vintage underground comix...
