Entitled Jerusalem 1918-1920: Being the Records of the Pro-Jerusalem Council during the period of the British Military Administration. It serves as a historical and architectural record of the Pro-Jerusalem Society, an organization founded in 1918 by Sir Ronald Storrs (the British Military Governor of Jerusalem) to preserve the city's historic sites, protect its antiquities, and guide its urban planning and development after the First World War. The book was published in London by John Murray (Albemarle Street, W.) in 1921. It was published specifically for the Council of the Pro-Jerusalem Society. The volume was edited by Charles Robert Ashbee (C. R. Ashbee). Ashbee was a prominent British architect, designer, and a key figure in the Arts and Crafts movement. During the British Military Administration, he was appointed as the Civic Advisor to the City of Jerusalem and served as the honorary secretary for the Pro-Jerusalem Society.
