A signed 2013 first edition of this large-format photographic portrait of Guyana by Fenton B. Sands. The book combines Sands’s color photography with personal observations and a concise introduction to Guyanese geography, history, culture, and national identity. This copy bears what appears to be the author’s signature, dated 2013, on the front endpaper. Sands lived in Guyana from 2005 to 2007 while working for USAID on development efforts involving health, education, and economic growth. He explains that the photographs grew from his fascination with Guyana’s beauty, color, mystery, culture, history, and diversity.
