Knopf | New York | 1981 8vo | First Trade Edition | Signed Condition:Very Good Hardcover bound in beige cloth flecked with brown, bright gilt titles to front cover and spine. Bumping to spine caps. Top edge of text block has a decorative dark blue stain, still very dark, apart from a small scuff. Remaining edges show toning and foxing. A bit of faint yellowing to cloth at edges of boards and over spine. Else, spine is straight, corners are sharp, binding remains tight, and hinges and joints are taut. Interior pages are crisp, though faintly toned. Toning is most pronounced at endpapers. No major wear such as underlining/highlighting, stains, tears, or wrinkling. The dust jacket shows minor wear. A bit of chipping and crinkling to edges. Toning on the rear panel. Some discoloration to front panel. Price mark has been clipped from the interior flap. Still, the jacket remains bright and mostly intact, and is now protected in archival mylar. Published in 1981, stated first trade edition to copyright page. Author's signature on the full title page.
