Scarce 1892 ONE VOLUME EDITION. First Edition hardcover featuring a historical perspective of English literature from the writing of WIDSITH to the end of King Alfred in ca. 899. Map frontispiece with no other illustrations. GOOD Condition with some edge wear, some soiling, a few edge chips to a few pages, and age toning internally, but a pretty clean interior with a few light pencil notes, but not much at all. Both hinges just starting and beginning separations between a few signatures, but well attached, no loose, torn or missing pages. Very old corner dampstain to top rear cover at gutter that affected the corners of the last few pages, but no mold, no pages stuck together. Overall at least Good. Scarce.
