Like New in like new dustjacket. Tight binding, solid spine, excellent cover, clean unmarked interior. DJ in mylar wrapper. First published in single volume form 1832 by J. Doherty, Manchester. A classic account of the brutality and suffering endured in some of the new cotton factories at the beginning of the 19th-century based on the early life of Robert Blincoe. Brown's account appeared after his death (he committed suicide in 1822) and was published in five parts in 1828. It was subsequently reprinted in one volume by Doherty, a trade union leader, in 1832. Original copies are virtually impossible to find and even this reprint edition is now very scarce.
