A reprint of the 1843 edition noted by Graff, Bradford, Howes, Sabin, and Wagner-Camp. Williams travelled from Indiana to Oregon Territory in 1841, accompanying the first settlers migrating to the Pacific Coast. He returned by the southern route via Bent's Fort and Taos. A concise, journalistic account, including local tribes met and much detail concerning the fur trade and the country.
