ITEM DESCRIPTION Graph Chakake no Sho (グラフ 茶掛けの書) is a complete 4-volume illustrated set by Horie Tomohiko, published in Japan by Tokyo Shoseki in 1986. The set surveys calligraphy used as chakake — hanging scrolls displayed in the tokonoma during the Japanese tea ceremony. Volumes included: Bokuseki (墨跡, Zen monks' calligraphy); Utagire (歌切, poem fragments); Shikishi, Tanzaku, Shojo (色紙・短冊・書状, poem cards, poem strips and letters); and Kaishi, Eiso, Kasen, Shakyo (懐紙・詠草・歌仙・写経, poem sheets, poem drafts, Immortal Poets and sutra copies). Set ISBN 4-487-75084-9 (9784487750849). The colophon of the Shikishi, Tanzaku, Shojo volume is dated November 10, 1986. Text in Japanese. Condition: Used – Acceptable. Comes with outer boxes and inner cases. The outer boxes show rubbing, creasing, sunning, stains, wear, sticker-removal marks and fold marks; the inner cases show some rubbing. The books themselves are in good condition. About the author: Horie Tomohiko (born 1909, Tokyo) was a Japanese calligrapher and calligraphy historian who graduated in Japanese literature from Waseda University in 1933, worked at the Tokyo National Museum from 1934 to 1969, and later served as a professor at Nishogakus
