Instigations. First edition, inscribed by the author to translator Ludmilla Savitzky on the front free endpaper, "A la chère madame, L. S." Pound gave Savitzky a copy of A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man in 1920, and convinced her to translate the novel. There are a handful of marginal annotations, including a correction in pencil on page 353 This collection of literary essays demonstrates Pound's dissatisfaction with British and American culture following the First World War. Pound had visited Paris in the summer of 1920 from London, and relocated there in 1921.
