Mary Poppins from A to Z. First edition, predating the UK edition by a year, presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper in blue ink, "For Zelma, and old friendship, with love from P. L. Travers, August 1962". This series of 26 "alliterative antics" (New York Times) concerns characters from the author's previous books, including the redoubtable and eponymous nanny. Inscribed copies are uncommon.The Chicago Daily Tribune published an interview with the author in November 1962 explaining that "the occasion of Miss Travers' visit to this country from her home in England was the September publication of Mary Poppins from A to Z". The book proved sufficiently popular to be issued in 1969 as an LP record by Caedmon, read by Robert Stephens.
